Dr. Eric Daiter is a physician of utmost integrity.
In 2002, as I approached my 32nd birthday, I wanted nothing more than to start a family and become a mother. Numerous attempts at natural conception yielded unsuccessful results. At the time, I knew little about infertility. For the most part, it is a topic not readily discussed. I lacked information as well as direction in terms of locating a fertility specialist. Research led me to The International Council on Infertility Information Dissemination. This organization is comprised of the nation's top experts in the field of fertility. Dr. Daiter holds an active position on the advisory board and moderates the forum on endometriosis. I found his responses to forum participants informative, but most important, personable and genuine. Upon learning his practice was located in New Jersey, I stopped searching for a physician and became his patient.
Infertility treatment varies on a continuum from low to aggressive. At my initial consultation, Dr. Daiter explained several options. Today, even the most prestigious fertility clinics view in vitro fertilization as a panacea for everyone. In contrast, I have not felt pressure to explore such a costly and invasive procedure. Rather, Dr. Daiter invariably puts my concerns above all other considerations. I have always felt as though I have an active role in deciding on a course of action. Together, we have chosen an approach that meets my needs. Working as a team, we are making significant progress.
Last year, I elected to undergo a hysteroscopy and a laparoscopy to improve my reproductive potential. Dr. Daiter encourages one's spouse to be involved with all aspects of treatment. When considering surgery, my husband and I attended a preoperative evaluation to discuss the purpose, procedure, risks, and expected benefits. Graciously, he took the time to answer all of our questions. On the day of my surgery, Dr. Daiter unexpectedly made it possible for my husband to be at my bedside until the last minute. It was comforting to have my husband with me. I was relaxed and at ease as I waited to be taken to the operating room. The next day as I was recovering at my home, the telephone rang. Dr. Daiter made a personal call to see how I was feeling. Gestures such as these make Dr. Daiter stand out as one who will go out of his way to add a personal touch. Moreover, both surgical procedures were successful and without complication.
Dr. Daiter gives unstintingly of his time, energy, knowledge, and effort to "make things happen." His thoughtfulness and support have made it possible for me to maintain a positive attitude. I remember one particular instance when his schedule was full, yet he found time to accommodate me. As it turned out, it was Halloween. While attending to my medical needs, he described with enthusiasm how much he was looking forward to spending a special evening with his two young boys trick or treating.
